Where art lives

Enter ARoS — where art inspires, challenges, and transforms. Experience pioneering exhibitions, our collection of Danish and international art from the 18th century to present day, or step inside our iconic installations to get a new perspective on the world around you.

ARoS is an international art museum located in Aarhus. With five galleries and an entire floor dedicated to immersive installations, ARoS offers an important space for recalibrating the past, negotiating the present, and imagining the future.

ARoS’ collection contains more than 8.000 works including masterpieces by national and international artists. The collection features iconic installations such as Olafur Eliasson’s Your rainbow panorama (2011) and Ron Mueck’s oversized sculpture Boy (1999). From 2025, visitors can also experience the installation The Dome, a Skyspace by James Turrell; the artist's most ambitious Skyspace to date. The absorbing installation reinforces ARoS' position as one of the world's leading museums for installation.

Each year, ARoS hosts six to eight major exhibitions alongside a rich public engagement programme. Our bold, adventurous, and international outlook has led to groundbreaking exhibitions featuring artists like J.W.M. Turner, Claude Monet, Edvard Munch, Franciska Clausen, Salvador Dalì, Asger Jorn, Per Kirkeby, Barbara Kruger, Isaac Julien, Jenny Holzer, Bill Viola, Cindy Sherman, Mariko Mori, Sarah Sze and many more.

More than 600.000 visitors come to ARoS annually for transformative art experiences, to shop in the ARoS Butik, eat in the ARoS Café or Orangery or simply enjoy our iconic architecture and location.
