The A.P. Møller Foundation donates DKK 7.5 million to rehang and redesign the collection galleries at ARoS.

In the coming years, ARoS – with generous support from the A.P. Moller Foundation – will invest substantially in access to the museum's collection displays for the benefit of broad audiences and future generations.

The A.P. Møller Foundation supports ARoS to revitalise the framework of the collection displays and to strengthen the communication and the accessibility of the collection for even more people.

A complete rehang and redesign of the two collection galleries – which today surveys the collection exhibitions Human Nature and ARoS Collection: 1960 – now – can be realised with this generous support. The galleries will be designed to be more flexible, making it possible to dedicate areas of the exhibitions to individual artists, art historical subjects or timely narratives for shorter or longer periods.

"We receive the grant with heartfelt gratitude. A cornerstone in ARoS's 10-year vision plan is a comprehensive rethinking of the museum's collection, its visibility and its importance to the museum's future," says museum director Rebecca Matthews, adding

"With a more flexible design, we will be able to rehang the exhibitions more frequently and to show far more works from our collection to the benefit of all ARoS audiences. This donation enables a renewed focus on the museum's collection, and in the process we hope to contribute to a best practice plan for collection development in Denmark."
