Press release • September 2024
Last week, young people under the age of 27 had free access to more than 200 museums as part of the national K7 programme. On average, ARoS attracted more than 1,000 young people a day during the week and was according to K7's own statistics the most visited institution.
“We're thrilled that so many young people used the opportunity to experience ARoS. It’s been an exciting week, and I think both our young visitors and we at ARoS have experienced new ways of coming together around art,” says Museum Director Rebecca Matthews.
As something new this year, ARoS invited a group of young people to organise a special day programme on Thursday during the K7 week. The day included a silent disco in Olafur Eliasson's Your Rainbow Panorama, concerts, music bingo, literature readings and tours of the current exhibitions.
More than 1,700 K7-visitors made their way to ARoS for the event, making 2024 a K7 record year for ARoS.
“The fact that we can attract so many people demonstrates that young people also find relevance in what ARoS has to offer: A meeting place with room for contemplation and reflection where you can challenge your perception of the world around us,” says Rebecca Matthews.
