Press release • August 2024
Are you under the age of 27? If so, you can visit ARoS for free as much as you want from Monday, September 9 to Sunday, September 15.
Once again, ARoS takes part in the national culture week K7, which allows everyone between 18–27 to visit ARoS for free, take a walk in Your rainbow panorama, experience the immersive installation by American artist Sarah Sze, or to stand face to face with the giant sculptures Boy and A Girl.
"This year we hope to welcome a lot of young people in week 37, including some of those who don't visit us regularly. We want everyone to feel welcome as part of the ARoS community, especially young people," says Museum Director Rebecca Matthews.
ARoS <3 K7 on September 12
In recent years, ARoS has been one of the museums that attracts the most young people during the K7 week, and this year we are hosting a very special program on Thursday September 12.
We have invited a group of young people to program and organize ARoS <3 K7, which takes place on September 12 from 16-21. The program has been developed over five workshops, and the project group has focused on creating a platform at one of Denmark’s largest museums to celebrate young, local creatives.
Among other things, there will be workshops and music bingo with Club Curious, screening of short films produced by young filmmakers from Aarhus Filmværksted, concerts with local up-coming artists, and Sunset Silent Disco in Your rainbow panorama at the top of ARoS.
ARoS also offers a free beer, and Politikens Poptillæg will drop by to record a podcast episode, which will be broadcast on Friday September 13.

This is the first time young people are directly involved in the programming of a major event at ARoS, and the process will pave ground for new concepts this specific target group at ARoS.
"Young people are the future of the museum; to get young people to feel welcome and to engage with us is an important part of ARoS’ strategy. I believe we can contribute to young people's well-being, create new communities and give young people with an interest in art and culture a wide range of skills which they can use in other parts of their lives," says Rebecca Matthews, adding
"We want to demonstrate trust in young people and dare to break new grounds for what museums can offer."
About K7
K7 is a nationwide initiative that offers free admission to more than 200 museums and exhibition spaces for anyone aged 18-27. K7 is an open invitation to all young people, offering new cultural experiences and making museum or theater visits a little more spontaneous and accessible.
K stands for culture (kultur in Danish, red.). And 7 stands for 7 days; week 37; and up to 27 years.
In Aarhus, K7 gives free admission to ARoS, KØN, Den Gamle By, Moesgaard Museum, Steno Museum, Museum Ovartaci and the Occupation Museum.
To get free admission, simply show up at the museum or exhibition venue and bring the free, personalized K7 card, which can be downloaded from the K7 website.
The cultural organization ADBC is behind K7, which this year is supported by Spar Nord Fonden, the City of Copenhagen, CPH STAGE and the Augustinus Foundation. The Tuborg Foundation and DUF - Dansk Ungdoms Fællesråd has also supported K7 at ARoS.
