Simplicity is necessary.

Peter Ilsted – Sunshine through Vines, 1891

"Sometimes it’s nice when things are simple. In all its exquisite simplicity, this work is a shining beacon amidst an ocean of dark stories.

The light is magical. It transports you to southern skies and childhood holidays. It tastes of the mountain villages of southern Europe. White surfaces, clay pots, flowers, vines and a beautiful woman, absorbed in her own peaceful world.

Simplicity is necessary. Living in our hectic world today, where the sheer load of worries and tasks can be daunting and even unbearable. Where huge existential issues are constantly clamouring for our attention, and where it can be difficult to imagine a peaceful globe with a stable climate – it’s liberating to come across things that are simple. Beautiful. Alluring and utterly clear in their story and message.

Losing myself in this work fills me with hope. Hope for my children and their future lives. Hope for our world and all its people.

I believe that the answers to lots of big questions are simpler than we think. Like this work. A simpler lifestyle. Less consumption. More love. Openness. Fellow feeling. We must try to really see each other. Listen attentively. Feel and show respect. We have to make an effort.

Then it will all work out in the end!"
