Create badges, artistic posters, and enjoy kids yoga at ARoS during winter break

Bring your family to ARoS this winter break, from February 8–16, where you can immerse yourselves in the bombastic world of Barbara Kruger. Get creative by designing your own artistic badges and posters, enjoy kids yoga, and embrace your inner rebel.

This year’s winter break activities at ARoS are inspired by American artist Barbara Kruger’s current exhibition, No Comment, which has transformed ARoS Level 1, spread across the ARoS museum building and into Aarhus’ public realm. Known for her oversized typography and commercial and industrial formats, Kruger’s works borrow from mass media motifs, pairing them with bold statements to question social relationships and power structures.

Create personal artworks with powerful messages
Under the theme ‘Your Comment’, ARoS invites you and your family to create personal art inspired by Barbara Kruger’s iconic style. ARoS Level 3 will be transformed into a creative space for children, featuring a poster and badge workshop in collaboration with Rebecca Ross from Tegneklubben and Josephine Graff Vallant. Here, you can transform old posters into Kruger-inspired artworks with personal messages to take home. You can also design unique badges to adorn clothing or bags.

“We aim to be an inclusive museum where everyone feels welcome and part of the ARoS community. We’re thrilled to offer our youngest visitors and their families the chance to explore Barbara Kruger’s inspiring universe through play, creativity, and movement – with a touch of rebellion,” says Rebecca Matthews, Museum Director at ARoS.

In collaboration with Lilleby, a community center for children and parents in Aarhus, ARoS invites young visitors to discover their inner rebel in The Rebel Mini Museum. Through playful activities, movement, and curiosity-driven exploration, children can enjoy a space where the usual museum “rules” don’t apply, in a setting designed to spark imagination and fun.

On Level 1, daily kids yoga sessions will take place amidst Kruger’s large, text-based works that stretch across walls and floors. Family tours will also be available daily, offering an engaging way to delve into the No Comment exhibition together.
